But first let me tell you a little about myself and why I think I am more than qualified to talk about dating and internet dating sites. I was married at twenty five and divorced at thirty one. I was on my on again with my little girl who was and is the apple of my eye. Does any of this sound slightly familiar to you? Now come the weirdest and funniest part of my story! It's about my experiences of wandering in the wilderness of single dating for eight years. Let me list some of the types and methods of dating that I have tried: Here goes! Single events, blind dates, church singles, speed dating (a joke!) The results? Some nice guys, some average, some losers, but none that struck the spark that ignites that flame. Talk about "Looking for Love in All The Wrong Places!!" Then a close friend of mine suggested internet dating. My first reaction was no thank you! It struck me as a little too cold and impersonal. Then my friend told me that her cousin had met a super guy that way and they were engaged to be married. Well, that really caught my attention and I certainly didn't want to go back to blind dates and singles bars, Yuck! So I cranked up the old PC and rode off into cyberspace. What an eye opener that was! There are all types of dating sites. No matter who or what you’re looking for, believe me it’s out there! Well, I joined a couple of sites, filled out my personality test, sent in my most flattering photo and my slightly hyped profile. Then the computers sliced and diced me, assigned me some numbers and spun me out there into the Internet Dating Game! I was ready!! I mean I was really ready.!! .........Well, actually not much happened!!! ?? They sent me a few profiles, but none matched my prefrences. One guy who lived in Nome, Alaska. Some fellow from Budapest and one from Slate Hollow, Kentucky. I live in Southern California, No way! Either the computer went crazy or they were just randomly sending me profiles in hopes that we would match. So I started all over again and joined a couple of more sites. Well, miracles never cease ! After six months of poring over pages of photos and reading countless profiles I came across a picture of an attractive, pleasant looking guy who lived just forty five minutes away. He was divorced, forty six years old, had a good job, one teenage kid, and a nice home. We made contact and started dating. We hit it off right away. After a year we were in engaged and six months later we had a church wedding (my daughter was the flower girl) and then off to a wonderful honeymoon in Hawaii!! So, you might well ask, does internet dating really work? Yes it does work! I am absolute living proof that it does! Thousands and thousands of people meet their life's soul mates on the internet every year. If it didn't work, dating sites just wouldn't exist! Do all dating sites work? No! Many dating sites just do not deliver. They do not meet most people expectations. Some of them are a waste of your time, your money and your emotions.
